Women have always stitched, either to compliment their social standing or for survival. This work tells the story of a woman forced onto the streets for financial reasons. Stitched in human hair onto a baby’s jacket these elements are symbolic of her situation as a mother struggling to survive with the only thing left to sell after her body, her hair.
Upon my Soul, ethically sourced human hair on vintage child’s jackets.
